Biogen Idec Patient Services

 

Biogen Idec is committed to providing you with quality support services to help make your experience with TYSABRI a positive one.

MS Support Specialists are available to answer your questions and provide personalized services to fit your individual needs. The many personalized services available to you include:

  • Getting Started With TYSABRI: Individualized support with starting your TYSABRI therapy including identifying a convenient authorized infusion site
  • Help With Insurance: Research and verification of your TYSABRI insurance coverage, work with your insurance company to coordinate coverage, discuss your options for additional insurance coverage, and more.
  • Financial Assistance Services: Work with patients to find the best financial assistance solution if needed.
  • Ongoing TYSABRI Therapy Support: Personal contact from an MS Support Specialist, highly trained in both TYSABRI and MS, to help you with logistical issues that may be preventing you from receiving your next TYSABRI infusion
  • Peer to Peer Interactions: Participate in teleconferences with other TYSABRI patients, and TYSABRI mentor programs; you are not alone

Paying for your TYSABRI

Insurance: Understanding your benefits

We know that understanding your insurance benefits, including Medicare, may be overwhelming. We're here to try to make it easier and less confusing for you. We have MS Support Specialists available to help you with insurance questions at 1-800-456-2255 Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM (ET). Biogen Idec can help research your TYSABRI insurance coverage. If you have inadequate coverage, high co-pay/co-insurance, or no coverage, we'll help you find the most affordable way to receive your treatment.

Biogen Idec Insurance Services include:

  • Researching your insurance coverage for TYSABRI
  • Working with your insurance company to coordinate coverage for TYSABRI
  • Assisting you and/or your healthcare professional with insurance prior-authorization requirements and claims tracking for TYSABRI
  • Providing options for additional insurance coverage

Please note that for some insurance research and support services, such as prior authorizations or claims denials, a completed and signed TOUCH enrollment form is required.

Private Medical Insurance Plans

Most private insurance plans currently provide coverage for TYSABRI. Depending on your insurance benefits, you may or may not have some financial responsibility for the cost of the drug or part of the cost of the infusion when you receive TYSABRI. If you would like more information on what the cost of treatment with TYSABRI could be for you, call 1-800-456-2255 to speak with a personal MS Support Specialist to research your benefit information.

The percentage of TYSABRI cost paid by your insurance company will depend on your individual benefits. You may also have yearly deductibles or limits on your out-of-pocket responsibilities that impact the cost of TYSABRI therapy to you. You should review your individual insurance coverage for a better understanding of your benefits. The TOUCH Prescribing Program can also help you understand your benefits as they relate to TYSABRI coverage.

Before starting TYSABRI treatment, it's helpful to find out:

  • What type of insurance you currently have
  • Whether and how TYSABRI will be covered by your health insurance
  • How much of the cost (if any) you will need to contribute

TYSABRI and Medicare

TYSABRI is available to Medicare patients under the Part B benefit. Under this benefit, patients are responsible for a portion of the cost of the drug and office visit and Medicare covers the remaining fees. However, there are supplemental insurance policies available, which provide coverage for out-of-pocket expenses under Medicare Part B. Beneficiaries of these supplemental plans pay additional premiums for this coverage. MS Support Specialists can help you understand your Medicare coverage and additional insurance options that may be available to you.

Seeking Financial Assistance for TYSABRI:

MS Support Specialists can help both new and current patients who need financial assistance in order to receive TYSABRI. As part of Biogen Idec's comprehensive commitment to TYSABRI patients, personalized help identifying the best financial assistance solution is provided to any patient. Our goal is to ensure that no patient is denied treatment based solely on financial limitations. Programs are tailored to meet the needs of a range of patient situations. Specifically, we have programs for uninsured patients, privately insured patients, and patients insured through public payers, such as Medicare.

Financial Assistance services for TYSABRI patients include:

  • Providing co-payment assistance if you are eligible and insured
  • Helping identify other sources of financial assistance
  • Providing free drug to eligible TYSABRI patients
