The strength to continue

By DONNA

Relapsing MS has made me more aware of myself: I take care of myself as much as I can, I stay as stress free as possible, I know when I need to rest and not push myself too much. What’s surprising to me is that the fight I tapped into so many years ago is still burning within me. People would comment, “Gosh, how do you stay positive?” My children need me. I could have curled up into a ball, but the world would still continue (as it should!), so I decided I had to stay active and engaged in my life.

I don’t have any choice but to be positive. Too many people need me. My children need me.

I was nervous to try TYSABRI, but I was also very scared of getting relapses, so I knew I had to do something. I discussed it with my husband and my doctor, and together we decided that TYSABRI was the right choice for me. Since TYSABRI increases the risk of PML infection, my doctor monitors my JC virus antibody status and my blood work. So far, the results of my blood work as well as my most recent MRI have been stable. I'm glad I made the decision to start TYSABRI. Now I love helping my fellow peers also fighting the fight, and I continue to go out and speak to individuals going through this journey.
